Well, this Apple post was a short one, because even Apple don’t have the tech specs for it! This was probably because the iPad 3 was only available for something like 6 months, before the iPad 4 (which I am doing next post) was released. I personally have an iPad 3, and there is virtually no difference between the iPad 3 and the 4.

iPad mini VS iPad

2

iPAD MINI VS iPAD

DIMENSIONS
The iPad mini lives up to its name

The iPad mini has around 60% of screen area that the iPad has. The iPad mini is also a lot thinner, measuring up at 0.4 mm thinner than the iPhone 5. The iPad is taller and wider, but this is only because the iPad minis borders are noticeably thinner, as you can see in this picture.

WEIGHT

The iPad mini is much lighter

The iPad mini is very light compared to the iPad 4 (this isn’t its actual name, but it might as well be). It is half the weight of its bigger counterpart.

WINNER: iPad mini

DISPLAY

The display advantage goes to the big one

Here is one of the bigger advantages for the iPad. Though the iPad minis 1024×768 should look very good in a 7.9-inch display, it’s nothing compared to the iPads 20148×1536, 9.7-inch display. The iPad has four times more pixels than the iPad mini, and has an extra 100 pixels in each inch.

WINNER: iPad

PROCESSOR

These clock speeds aren't confirmed, but the chips and cores are

This is another advantage for the iPad 4. It takes the iPhone 5s chip, and makes it quad-core, while the iPad mini takes the chip from the iPad 2. The iPad 2s chip speed was clocked at 1 GHz, which makes for a fair estimate for what the minis is. There have been rumours that the iPhone 5 has been clocked at 1.3 GHz, but none of these have been confirmed.

WINNER: iPad

RAM

These aren't confirmed either, but are the most likely numbers

The iPad mini has a fair amount of RAM, and the iPad 4 retains the 1 GB of RAM from the iPad 3. Although the iPad mini has lots of RAM, the iPad has to win.

WINNER: iPad

STORAGE
Apple kept things simple with storage

Some people predicted that Apple would release an 8 GB model that would be around AU$250, but Apple stuck with its usual choices.

WINNER: Draw

CELLULAR AND WIRELESS
No hard decisions here

No surprises here, with both the iPad and iPad mini offering Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi and 3G.

WINNER: Draw

CAMERA
Cameras are also a toss-up

The cameras are the same on both versions, and even though they both cannot compare to the top-end smartphones, they are pretty good for tablets.

WINNER: Draw

BATTERY

The iPad 4 has a much bigger battery, but uptimes may even out

The iPad has a much bigger battery, but because the iPad has to sustain four times the pixels, the battery life times pretty much even out.

WINNER: iPad

CONCLUSION

The iPad mini is a worthy adversary, but as you can see, the iPad is just so much better. The only thing that the iPad mini is better than the iPad in is the Weight, which is fairly obviously a category that the mini has to win. The only reason that you should get the iPad mini, is if you need a smaller version of the iPad, and something that is cheaper. There is a pretty obvious winner here.

WINNER: iPAD

iPHONE 4

As the iPhone 4 has been discontinued as a normal phone, and now is only sold as refurbished, I can only write the tech specs. Sorry!

Apple – iPod Touch (5th generation)

3

The iPod Touch is like an iPhone without the phone part. Apparently it is engineered for maximum funness. Exactly.

Features

Engineered for maximum funness. With all these colours, it just HAS to be fun.

New design. As you can see, the design has been altered majorly. The camera is bigger, it has flash, and the thing that used to cover the place where the camera could be in the 3rd gen. iPod touch (see below), is now on the other side. Also, the camera sticks out.

4-inch display. And it’s retina. This makes the iPod touch pretty awesome. Not only is it the size of the iPhone 5, it is retina as well.

The camera. It has the iPhone 4s (note I mean the iPhone 4, not the 4S) camera, but shoots video like an iPhone 5.

The iPod touch has an A5 Dual-Core processor. This is exactly the same as the iPhone 4S. Sadly, it does not have the A6 chip like the iPhone 5…

And now, in a world first… The iPod touch has Siri! This is quite cool, because, well, it’s cool.

Well, that’s the last of the iPods done. Now on my Apple posts, I will do the iPhones, followed by the iPads etc. Once I have finished the products that have already come out, I will do posts about rumours, and other things about the products coming out soon. I will reveal the next Apple post. It is…

the iPhone 4

iPhone 4 VS iPhone 4S VS iPhone 5

8

Before I write this, most people would think that the iPhone 5 would win this, but it has a flaw. Some people don’t like the size.

IPHONE 4 VS IPHONE 4S VS IPHONE 5

iPhone 5 - iPhone 4S - iPhone 4

PROCESSOR

Apple A6 Dual-Core                                   Apple A5 Dual-Core                                  Apple A4 Single Core

1.3 GHz                                                             800 MHz                                                   800 MHz

WINNER: Clearly, the iPhone 5 wins this. Its processor is almost double the speed of the 4S and 4.

COLOUR

The only difference between the iPhones is that the 5 has Black & Slate and White & Silver. The others just have Black and White.

DIMENSIONS
Dimensions of the three most recent iPhones

The iPhone 5 is significantly thinner than the 4S and 4, which is good. But, the iPhone 5 is taller as well. Some people may not like this, but there is not that much of a difference.

WEIGHT
The iPhone 5 is significantly lighter than its predecessors

Strangely enough, the 4S is heavier than the 4, which means it it the worst iPhone when it comes to weight. If you look at the statistics, obviously the 5 wins.

WINNER: iPhone 5

DISPLAY

All three iPhones sport 326ppi Retina displays

Though all the iPhones have 326ppi, the 5 gains an extra half-inch of screen, which shifts the ratio to 16:9. Users of the older iPhones may take time to get used to this, but they will eventually appreciate the greater room for apps and photos.

WINNER: iPhone 5

CAMERA

The iPhone 5 camera is a subtle - but pointed - improvement over the shooter in the 4S

Out of the three iPhones, the 4 is clearly the worst. The rear camera is only 5 megapixels, and a result of that is that the video is only 720p. The 4S and 5 are quite similar, and the only difference is that the 5 has a 1.2 megapixel front camera instead of a VGA like the 4S.

WINNER: iPhone 5

BATTERY

Battery life is similar on all three models

The battery life for all the iPhones is pretty similar, and the only strange thing is that the 4S only has 9 hours of Wi-Fi internet browsing, whereas the 4 has 10. Clearly, the 5 has longer life when it comes to 3/4G internet browsing as well.

In conclusion, even though the iPhone 5s size can be annoying, it is the best iPhone. By a mile. Its processor is faster, its camera is better, and its battery lasts longer. Its display is better, it weighs less and it is a lot thinner. When it comes to conclusions, this one is going to be pretty short. The iPhone 5 is simply just so much better than the 4 and 4S. Although the 4S is better than the 4, it is nothing compared to the 5. I’m not sure what else I can say, other than the winner. But obviously, you already know what iPhone that is…

WINNER: IPHONE 5
